What began as a people centered endeavor has become the luxury industrial complex, increasingly driven by profits and growth, rather than by any sense of value, or values. Of late, consumers have cottoned onto this: to paraphrase the excellent author Dana Thomas, luxury has lost its lustre. And its relevance. And increasingly, its customers.
